Support » Plugin: Recipe Card Blocks for Gutenberg & Elementor - Best WordPress Recipe Plugin » Good Plugin, but Business Plan Needs Adjustment

  • I believe the plugin has potential, but the business plan misses the mark. As a user, I prioritize basic features like rating, which is crucial for a recipe plugin. Additionally, the ability to import recipes from an old plugin is a must for users seeking alternatives due to abandonment issues with their previous plugin (in my case, Cooked Pro).

Without these fundamental features, it’s hard for users to even consider trying the plugin. My suggestion is to focus on providing a solid foundation with essential functionalities. If users are satisfied with the basic features and witness positive growth on their websites, they would be more inclined to explore the Pro version, which offers advanced features like reading mode, timer, recipe submissions, etc.

    Hello @bihush,

We appreciate your feedback a lot!

Indeed, you pointed out some important features for a recipe plugin, but you also have to understand that we can’t make a living by including all features in the free version. Some features you mentioned, like recipe rating or importing recipes, are available in the Pro version. Features like these take longer time and resources to implement, and sometimes, we even think that the free version is way too packed, given the value the user receives. Imagine if there wouldn’t be a free version at all. Also, it’s a common practice among other developers to ditch the free versions of their products as the conversion rate of free to users is very low.

In short, I wanted to say that our focus currently is on the Pro version, as no matter how much you’d offer for free, there will always be people complaining about little things instead of appreciating that they don’t need to pay for something or to send feedback or new feature ideas without harming the plugin’s rating.
