  • On both paths I DO receive the email that is sent from the wordpress system. In the email is a confirmation link. I click the link and it takes me to my homepage, but nothing happens.

The link should take you to the SETTINGS screen in the admin dashboard, the same place where you initiated the email address change, and not the homepage.

Below is an example of the kind of email you should be receiving, by default. If the link in your email does not look the this, or if then a plugin is likely changing this… and the task would be to track down the culprit plugin.

You could change the email addresses directly in the database, or by using a plugin. But these options should really be considered a last resort. And if you have many users on your site, these may not be viable options at all.

    Hi @jdanielcreations
    You can try these…

    1. Check spam folder for the confirmation email.
    2. Verify correct confirmation link and try different browsers.
    3. Clear browser cache and deactivate caching plugins.
    4. Confirm WordPress URL settings.
    5. Check email sending settings and ensure the email address format is correct.
    6. Update WordPress core and plugins to the latest versions.
    7. If issues persist, consider resetting the admin email via the database.
    8. Contact hosting support for further assistance.

Thanks for the help George and taking the time to read the problem correctly. It was a plugin. If anyone else ever has this issue check Defender. That was the plugin causing my issue. I deactivated it, changed the email, received the email, clicked the link and everything worked.

After this just reactivate Defender and it is all good to go. The moment you said plugin…. Defender was the first one I suspected.
