My multisite WordPress installation has 2 sub-folders using child themes of Twenty Twenty-Four. So I have 3 websites where I can create home pages: (1) example.com (2) example.com/en (3) example.com/fr

As example.com is the root its home page loads before the home pages of either example.com/en or example.com/fr. Is there somewhere in the multisite configuration where I can set example.com/en to load by default when anyone goes to example.com? I only need the websites in “en” and “fr” (have no use for what’s in example.com) and it’s ok to have example.com/en load by default. Visitors can click on the “fr” link for that language version.

I hoping there’s an easy tweak to do this as it will provide a workaround until a proper browser language redirect can be found that works.

I tried adding an old fashioned “meta http refresh” to the example.com home page. But it takes 2-3 seconds to load example.com/en. I’m hoping there’s a better solution.

If I can’t find any simple way to do this then I might resort to using the root folder foe “en” and one child folder for “fr”. Though having a redirect based on browser language solution (without paying for a $plugin) would be the most elegant.

Based on your more recent reply here, this topic is apparently no longer germane to the issue. Thus I’m closing this topic. Anyone having something to contribute may do so in the above linked topic.
