Admin >Appearance tab missing

I’m a noob. After much searching I’m finally writing.

I’m hosted on SiteGround. I installed twenty twenty-four theme to give it a whirl and ended up with no >Appearance tab, meaning no access to the block >Editor. Ugh.

I was using Elementor, not liking it much, and removed it as a TS step. No good. I disabled all plugins. Nope. I reset permissions. Nope. I’m wondering if I need to reinstall wordpress or something.

Is there a way to dig into the .php files to re-instantiate the Appearance tab? It has to be somewhere in the core but … after looking around in the database I realize it’ll take quite a while to locate it w/o help.
